October 2025 in Berlin with kids – monthly update
Hi everyone!
There’s always SO much going on over here, and although Instagram is a great place for quick updates, it often feels like stories and posts just… disappear. So I thought: why not start a monthly update here on the blog? A little round-up of everything we explored, loved, tried, and learned over the month.
Maybe this will turn into a newsletter one day, or even a twice-monthly thing if it feels right. But for now, I’m curious what you think – do you like this format? Let me know in the comments!
Here are some of my current favorites October 2025 in Berlin with kids:
Cool family-friendly institutions in Berlin
ZLB – Zentral- und Landesbibliothek (Kids’ Library)
Last month I wrote about the children’s library at ZLB – you’ll find the post below. Amazing programs, all for free. Make sure to follow them on Instagram for updates!
Weinmeisterhaus – Jugendkulturzentrum Mitte
A fantastic new discovery. This youth centre offers free creative workshops for children and teens. My daughter joined during the school holidays and enjoyed it a lot. The educators are very friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inspiring.

Trips and outdoor adventures with kids in Berlin
Müggelturm
One golden autumn day, a friend and I took a forest walk up to Müggelturm – and it was perfect. Peaceful woods, beautiful views from the tower, plus there’s a playground and wetland area nearby. Such a great weekend idea!

Volkspark Jungfernheide – Erlebnispfad and playground
I’ve been meaning to go for ages, especially since the new walking trail opened (you can check it here). The park also has a fantastic playground and many areas I haven’t explored fully yet – definitely a place to return to.

Siemensstadt Housing Estate
A UNESCO-listed „Großsiedlung“ with incredible Bauhaus architecture. The clean lines, open green spaces, and striking facades make it a must-see for design lovers. And between the buildings? Wild bunnies! Tons of them. My daughter was so happy to watch them!

Playground for older kids – directly at U-Bhf. Halemweg (to find it, google: Grünzug und Spielplatz Popitzweg)
As my kids grow, I’m constantly on the lookout for playgrounds that challenge them – and this one next to Halemweg station was a hit! Lots of climbing, balance, and strength play. There’s actually two parts — the second even more advanced than the first.

Events & Workshops in October 2025 in Berlin with kids
Familiennacht in Berlin
Familiennacht is a Berlin-wide celebration where schools, museums, and community spaces stay open late just for families – with special workshops, concerts, science demos, and more, most of them free. We joined in Mitte in Alte Feuerwache and later headed to Zitadelle Spandau. Loved it and we will definitely take part next year.

Festival of Lights in Berlin
This year I only made it to Potsdamer Platz — and it was… okay. Not as magical as last year when I saw so many installations. For truly mind-blowing light festivals, try the ones in Lyon or Łódź. They’re next level.
Klosterruine workshop for kids
We joined a free workshop where we explored sounds and built homemade instruments — all inside 800-year-old monastery ruins. I mean… how cool is that? There is another event for families happening on 10.11 – you can check it here

Museums & exhibitions visited in October 2025 in Berlin with kids
Hamburger Bahnhof – Family Sunday
Thanks to Volkswagen Group’s “Sunday4Families,” tickets cost just €10 for the whole family (normally €16 per adult; kids are always free). You get to visit exhibitions and take part in creative drop-in workshops led by wonderful educators. Themes change weekly! Also make sure to check their publication about Hamburger Bahnhof, it is really great, more details here.

Naruto the gallery, exhibition at R.A.W. Gelände
Had to go! One of my son’s all-time favorite anime heroes. We even visited Naruto Park in Jap – so this was a must. He left absolutely happy.

Bat cellar at Zitadelle Spandau
Such a special experience in Berlin. We absolutely loved it and could not leave the cellar — the bats were absolutely fascinating. In Haus 4 at Zitadelle Spandau, you’ll find the bat cellar where around 200 tropical bat species now live, thanks to successful breeding. The bats follow an inverted day/night rhythm so visitors can observe these otherwise nocturnal animals during daytime. You can also join a guided tour to learn more about the species and the unique habitat they occupy within this historic site.

Labyrinth Kindermuseum – “Talentopia” exhibition
We finally visited the newest exhibition all about discovering individual talents. Children aged 3 to 11 are invited to explore what they’re good at – through art, music, logic, movement, language, and social play. “Talentopia” highlights that every child has something unique to offer and lets them try it out through engaging, hands-on stations. Both my girls loved it. A great mix of playful discovery and creative challenges.

FEZ & Alice Kindermuseum – “Green Planet Berlin” exhibition
This was our first time at the Alice Museum, and we loved the current exhibition, “Green Planet Berlin,” recommended for ages 7 and up. It’s all about how small ideas and local action can help shape a more ecological future for Berlin. Kids can interact with hands-on stations to explore smart solutions for a greener city. Fully interactive and very inspiring – perfect for curious minds.

Urban Sports Club – Berlin offer
I recently got back into using Urban Sports Club after a break – and I’m so glad I did. What I love most is the variety: there are SO many amazing studios and activities all over Berlin, and I’m always happy with discovering new ones.
My favorites:
Deep Morning Stretch in BOARÉ Yoga Art Rodenberg
I found this when my back pain was at its peak – the kind that makes you google “am I 85 years old?”. These classes were a lifesaver. Not physically intense, but super effective. I walked out feeling like a new person!
Lifted – strength training for everyone
My USC obsession! Before summer I went 10 times and saw visible changes in my body – in just a few weeks. It’s a strength class with 6 stations, each with 3 sets of 6 reps. The trainers are fantastic and the vibe is welcoming. I’m planning to go twice a week regularly.
Hypnosis and sound meditation – Slow – mental health gym
One of my big discoveries last month. I was hesitant – I pictured people getting into deep hypnosis state that I was afraid of – but it’s nothing like that. It’s really just guided meditation with intention, supported by beautiful sounds from crystal bowls. The most calming experience ever.
Good things we loved in October 2025 (and much longer)
These are food lifesavers I always keep in the freezer – great ingredients, no junk, and perfect for days when I just can’t cook:
Gustavo Gusto Pizza – this pizza is really good!
Schupfnudelpfanne (perfect for thermos cans when we go for a day trips) – really tasty!
Dafgårds Köttbullar Meatballs – super tasty, you can get them in all bio shops
TooGoodTo Go app – rediscovered this month!
It’s an app that helps reduce food waste by letting you buy surplus food from restaurants, shops, and hotels at huge discounts. I usually use the map view, add places to favorites, check ratings, and turn on push notifications so I don’t miss a “Magic Bag.” My tip? On weekends, I grab breakfast boxes from hotels before a family trip – for €4-5 it’s enough for all of us for a nice picnic!

Sofi Bakery in Mitte
Recommended by my friend Iga from Baza Berlin – and oh. my. goodness. Easily the best bread in Berlin. The line is long on weekends, but worth it.
Study apps that help my kids with learning
If your kids need support with school, or if they’re just curious and want to learn more, here are 2 apps we love and use regularly:
Sofatutor – learning app for schoolchildren in Germany
Total lifesaver. Clear video explanations, exercises, worksheets – all organized per class and subject. No more guessing what level or topic is right. Great for exam prep, spelling, grammar… everything.
Funexpected – your child’s first math program
Beautifully designed and full of clever puzzles that build math thinking, logic, and reasoning for ages 3-8. We discovered it when Mira fell in love with math – now it’s her favorite “screen time”.

Last Thing: Help Save BVG Muva!
For those who don’t know: BVG Muva is an on-demand shuttle service for people with limited mobility (and yes, that includes parents with strollers, luggage, or young children). You can book it through an app and even schedule ahead. You get SMS updates when the van is near, and the whole thing is easy to use and very family-friendly. Unfortunately, it might be discontinued unless funding is approved in December. Signing the petition shows there’s public support for keeping this valuable service alive.
