Poznan and surroundings with Kids – family adventure in Poland

Poznan with kids

We just an exciting four days exploring Poznan and the surrounding areas, thanks to an invitation from the Poznan Tourism Organization. Even though our itinerary was packed, we couldn’t cover everything this amazing city has to offer. Poznan and its surroundings are full of family-friendly attractions, ensuring no one will be bored – whether adults or kids. Here’s a list of spots we visited and would confidently recommend to families with children.

Things to do in Poznan with kids

ICHOT – Gate of Poznan

This is a must-see for families visiting Poznan. The Interactive Center of Ostrów Tumski History (ICHOT) is fantastic for kids, with a special tour featuring audio guides in multiple languages. Kids can learn history through play, thanks to interactive exhibits designed for younger visitors. Even the liveliest little ones will be captivated here. This was actually our second visit, and we loved it just as much as the first time.

The Poznan Croissant Museum

Poznan is famous for its Saint Martin’s croissants, and this museum offers an interactive experience where you can learn about this unique treat’s history. Kids and adults alike can enjoy a hands-on baking lesson, and we highly recommend visiting at 11:00 a.m. so you can also catch the famous goat statues at the Town Hall at noon. The local culture and humor are guaranteed to make you smile! 😉

Termy Maltańskie Aquapark

For water-lovers, this aquapark is paradise. Kids can enjoy tons of slides, inflatable obstacles, and even a water parkour course—our daughters were thrilled! The outdoor area, with views of Lake Malta, is perfect for warm days, and the variety of attractions ensures fun for the whole family.

Old Town Square

The renovated Poznan Old Town Square is a charming spot for a family stroll. You can admire the beautiful townhouses, relax on the benches, and choose from a wide range of dining options.

The Maltanka Train Ride

A fun experience for train enthusiasts, this ride takes you along the shores of Lake Malta. It’s not just about the views; kids will love the ride itself. There are also several spots for walks and picnics around the train route.

Playgrounds in Poznan

Although we didn’t have much time, we managed to check out a few playgrounds. “Wartofrajda” near the Old Town Square was a favorite, and “Park Tysiąclecia” near our hotel also had a nice playground. If you’re planning to do some shopping, stop by Stary Browar mall, which has a park and playground where kids can let off steam while parents relax.

Where to stay in Poznan with kids

We stayed at Novotel Malta Hotel, our second visit there, and it’s perfect for a family getaway. It’s close to the city center yet near Park Tysiąclecia, so you get the best of nature and city convenience. The outdoor pool with a lifeguard was a hit with our kids, especially on hot days, and they begged for pool time daily. There’s also a relaxing area with hammocks and loungers, ideal after a full day of sightseeing. The rooms are spacious, and adjoining rooms are available for larger families. Kids can enjoy a play corner, and the delicious breakfast is a perfect start to the day.

Family-Friendly restaurants in Poznan

We found some great spots for family meals. The restaurant in Hotel Kolegiacki surprised us with its hidden rooftop terrace, offering fantastic city views. Be sure to try the eggplant filet and fish soup —delicious! There’s also a kid’s menu, which was a big hit with our daughters.

Dynx Restaurant in Srodka impresses not only with its tasty food, but also with its thoughtful interior design and friendly service. A children’s menu is available.

For my own evening catch-ups, I visited two cool spots recommended by my friend Daria, who runs the Poznan blog “Poznańska Spacerówka”:

KontenerArt – A spacious venue with lots of food options and a unique vibe.

Ogród Szeląg – A lovely spot surrounded by greenery; definitely a new favorite!

Exploring around Poznan with kids

Kórnik – castle, lake, and arboretum with kids

Just 30 minutes from Poznan, Kórnik was a delightful surprise with plenty to offer. We started the day with a boat ride on Lake Kórnickie – ideal for relaxing and enjoying the views. Then we explored Kórnik Castle, where kids can use an audio guide tailored for them, immersing them in stories about the castle’s history.

And we loved the Arboretum, a beautiful spot for a family walk with lovely plants and charming paths. There’s a playground and an educational clearing for kids. Our eldest daughter enjoyed the treasure hunt game – such a fun activity!

Rogalin with kids – history and nature combined

We spent a day at the Raczyński Palace in Rogalin, a wonderful blend of history and nature. After a palace tour, you can check out the art exhibition and explore the beautiful garden. Rogalin is also famous for its ancient oaks, “Lech,” “Czech,” and “Rus,” and seeing an 800-year-old tree was awe-inspiring for all of us.

Szreniawa – an unexpectedly interesting museum

Our last stop was the Szreniawa Museum of Agriculture. It may sound like a static experience, but it’s actually packed with interactive exhibits. Kids can touch and explore everything, see farm animals, and visit a barn. It’s best to reserve at least half a day here, as there’s so much to see.

Local Flavors Around Poznan

After a busy day, we treated ourselves to some local dishes. In Plewiska, we dined at Restaurant Figa, which completely won us over with its amazing food and attention to detail. Kids loved the play area and special kids’ menu. Don’t miss the pavlova for dessert – it’s divine!

In Kórnik, we had a cozy meal at Restaurant Nestor near the lake promenade. There’s a kid-friendly menu, a play area, and delicious food for everyone.

Poznan and surroundings with kids – a perfect family getaway

Our trip to Poznan and its surroundings was packed with unforgettable moments, from historic castles to scenic parks and modern museums. It’s the perfect choice for families looking for a mix of fun, education, and nature. I’m already thinking of our next visit to continue exploring this charming area—proof that you don’t have to travel far for an adventure that will delight both kids and adults!

🎮 Recently we visited the Computerspielemuseum @computerspielemuseum_berlin again - one of my son’s all-time favorite museums in Berlin! For him, it’s a playground of pixelated adventures. For me, it’s pure nostalgia. 🕹️✨

Walking through the exhibits brings back memories of old games and computers I grew up with. I love seeing my son enjoy the classics like Pac-Man and Mario - and we always have so much fun playing together! 💛

If you’re feeling nostalgic or curious about the evolution of gaming, this place is a must.
Fun fact: The Computerspielemuseum was the world’s first museum dedicated to interactive digital entertainment, opened in 1997 in Berlin. Today, it houses one of Europe’s largest collections of vintage games, consoles, arcade machines, and gaming history.

📍 Karl-Marx-Allee 93A, Berlin

Last week we spent an adventurous day at @abenteuerparkpotsdam AbenteuerPark Potsdam - and wow, my kids absolutely loved it! 🌳🧗‍♀️✨

What’s not to love? There are climbing routes for little ones and older kids, all set in nature, with exciting challenges that build confidence and bring so much joy. You should’ve seen their faces when they finished a parcours - so proud and full of excitement! 🥹💪

Some routes are easier, others quite tricky - but that’s the beauty of it: every child can find their own level, test their strengths, think and focus. I love watching my kids grow through play like this! And the big zip line? So much fun - I’m definitely giving it a try next time! 😄

A few quick facts for those planning a visit:

🌼Just a few minutes from Potsdam Hbf

🌼12 parcours, 200 climbing elements

🌼Climbing starts from 1 meter body height

🌼Next level from 110 cm, full access from 140 cm

🌼Snacks & drinks available at the Waldbistro

🚨Online reservation required

✨ And here’s a little treat: Use code “adventurous spirit” for 25% off your booking - valid for 4 weeks from today 👉9.04.2025!

Let your little adventurers shine! 🌿🧗‍♂️

🎨 Recently we visited a really great place – @kinderkuenstezentrum – and we liked it a lot.

Every Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, they offer creative drop-in workshops where kids can invent, build, paint, and experiment with all kinds of materials. It’s super hands-on – kids are encouraged to touch, try, and explore freely.

The atmosphere is welcoming and calm, and everything is designed with children in mind. Only their imagination is the limit!

Tickets:
• Single ticket: €3
• Family ticket (up to 5 people): €8

If you’re looking for a relaxed, inspiring weekend activity – this is a gem!

Berlin in spring with kids 🌸🌳

Berlin truly comes alive in spring - flowers bloom, the sun shines, and playgrounds call us outside! ☀️👟

Here are my favorite spots for spring days with kids:
1. Playgrounds, playgrounds, playgrounds! 🎠
With almost 2,000 playgrounds in Berlin, you’ll find something new on every walk.
Here are just few that we spotted:
🍎 Obstsalat Playground, Marzahner Ch 120
🛶 Playground by Biergarten „Zum Anleger“, Kiehnwerderallee 2
🎵 Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park
🚿 Invalidenpark
2. Cherry Blossom Magic 🌸
Did you know Japan gifted Berlin over 9,000 cherry trees after the Wall fell? A beautiful symbol of peace and friendship!
Top spots: Bornholmer Str., Schwedter Str., Lilienthal Park, 🚨TV-Asahi-Kirschblütenallee (Teltow) - unfortunately due to restoration works this place is closed this year for the visitors
3. Tegeler See & Robinson Crusoe Playground 🏞️
A perfect day: lake views, red bridge, adventurous playground, and a forest walk.
4. Gärten der Welt 🌏
Spring in full bloom! Ride the cable car, enjoy the view from Wolkenhain, try the Natur - Bobbahn, and explore playgrounds in both the park and Kienberg.
5. Tulips in Britzer Garten 🌷
100,000 tulips in bloom! Don’t miss the “Tulips in Your Ears” audiowalk - even a fairytale for kids 🎧
And of course nature, playgrounds - perfect day out!
6. Schlosspark Charlottenburg 👑
Behind the palace you’ll find flowers, sheep, swans… and even turtles! 🐢 A peaceful spring escape.

What’s your favorite place to enjoy spring in Berlin? 💚

Behind the palace you’ll find flowers, sheep, swans… and even turtles! 🐢 A peaceful spring escape.

🌼I’m sick in bed and just scrolled through my photos from March. It looks like it was quite a busy month – but isn’t it always?
We visited the Balloon Museum as a whole family this time, and the kids loved it! I also went to a singing workshop in Poland, which was so beautiful and nourishing. We were surprised by a bit of winter there, sang many lovely songs, and - most importantly - I got to spend time with dear friends.
Back in Berlin, we explored some museums and playgrounds. I also went to London with my son to meet my sister and her son, who’s the same age. Sadly, the cousins don’t get to see each other often enough.🫂
🌸What makes me happy right now is that spring has already arrived here - I’m so looking forward to this time!
Hope you had a lovely March too!

We recently visited the Werkbundarchiv – Museum der Dinge @museumderdinge , a museum dedicated to the design history of everyday mass-produced objects from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Even though there’s literally nothing made for kids, we still enjoyed it - looking at some truly weird items and chatting about them. My daughters brought notebooks and loved drawing their favorite finds.

The museum also offers kids’ workshops from time to time, so it’s worth checking their schedule.
🎟️ Tickets: €6 for adults, kids go free.

Tip: After your visit, head to the playground next door – Spielplatz am Auswärtigen Amt – a great spot for kids to run and play!
