We spent one of the long weekends exploring Szczecin with kids – and let me tell you, this city never stops surprising us! Every single time we visit, we discover something completely new.
This time, we checked out several new spots and I can’t wait to tell you all about them. We were invited by Żegluga Szczecińska, and I want to thank them for organizing everything so wonderfully!
Where to stay in Szczecin with kids
https://all.accor.com/hotel/A0C7/index.de.shtmlWe’ve been to Szczecin with kids quite a few times now, and have tested several places to stay. Our absolute favorite is Ibis Styles Szczecin. Why? Great location, beautiful design, delicious breakfasts and little kids’ corner – all the things that make traveling with children easier.

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, I can also highly recommend the accommodation at Centrum Żeglarskie – they offer both a hostel and small wooden cabins. It’s further from the center but located right by the lake, and we had a great stay there a few years ago.
Getting to Szczecin
If you’re coming from Berlin, there are a few ways to get to Szczecin:
By bus – the fastest and most comfortable option right now. The journey takes around 2 hours.
By train – it’s possible, but due to ongoing rail works, it currently takes much longer. You’ll need to change to a replacement bus in Angermünde. The whole trip takes around 3.5 hours, but it’s also the cheapest option. If you have the Deutschlandticket, you only need to pay an extra €4.20 on the bus.
By car – always a possibility, but since we don’t currently have a car, we’ve been enjoying exploring alternative options.
Where to eat in Szczecin with kids
Food is always high on our list, and our top spot in Szczecin (which we visit every single time) is Bar Mleczny Turysta – an old-school Polish milk bar. If you want to experience proper Polish home cooking, like the kind grandma used to make on Sundays, go here. Don’t be discouraged by the queue outside – it moves quickly and is proof the food is excellent!
On this trip, we also enjoyed a meal at Browar Pod Zamkiem – highly recommend the cheese platter and Szczecin specialties. They also have a kids’ menu – small, but tasty (confirmed by our kids!).
In the Old Town, you’ll find Bajgle Króla Jana – amazing bagels, great coffee, and yummy cakes. Ideal for breakfast or a takeaway snack.

There’s also Café Niebko located inside the Museum of Technology and Communication – open on weekends with a simple but well-prepared menu.
If you’re a coffee lover like me, ToKawa is a must – their coffee and baked goods are fantastic!
Oh, and don’t miss out on trying a Pasztecik (in Bar Pasztecik) – a true Szczecin legend! It’s a warm, deep-fried pastry filled with meat or cheese. Grab a glass of barszcz (beetroot broth) with it – and don’t forget to admire the retro interior!
Szczecin with kids – top attractions
Now let’s talk about what makes Szczecin with kids such a great idea – the attractions!
Morskie Centrum Nauki (Maritime Science Center)
Wow. This place is HUGE and super modern. We could have easily spent the whole day there. With lots of interactive exhibits focused on science, maritime history, and hands – on experiments, it’s both fun and educational. Great for all ages!

Fabryka Wody – Edukatorium & Aquapark
This place is a total hit! Fabryka Wody is actually two attractions in one:
Edukatorium – a beautiful, interactive science center all about water. You get an audio guide and go through a fascinating journey learning about water in all its forms. You can touch, explore, and engage. If I lived in Szczecin, I’d definitely get a year pass!

Aquapark – absolutely amazing! A giant water park with slides, pools, and a fun zone for all ages. Coming from Berlin, where there’s literally no proper aquapark, this was a total highlight!

See Szczecin with kids from the water!
One of the most special moments of our trip was seeing Szczecin from the water. Did you know that 1/4 of the city is covered by water? I had no idea before!
We went on a private boat tour and saw both the industrial and the natural side of the city – and even spotted a white-tailed eagle 🦅! While our tour was custom-made, there are plenty of great options for everyone – check out Odra Queen cruises

Underground Tourist Routes – Podziemne Trasy Szczecina
This was our first time exploring the Underground Tourist Routes of Szczecin and it was such a cool experience! Walking through tunnels, learning about local history, and meeting the passionate people who run the place made it truly memorable.

Museum of Technology and Communication – Muzeum Techniki i Komunikacji
If your kids love vehicles – or if you do – don’t skip this place! From old trams to retro cars, there’s so much to see. Plus:
🚗 Motoeksperymentarium
An interactive zone inside the museum where kids can learn about traffic safety and car mechanics in a playful way. Simulators, hands-on exhibits, and even a chance to “drive under the influence” (safely simulated, of course) – it’s a great learning experience!

Red tourist trail – The City Tourist Route in Szczecin
If you want to explore Szczecin with kids on foot, follow the Red Tourist Trail! It’s a 7-km walking path marked with red dashed lines on the sidewalks. The trail connects 42 of the most interesting sights and monuments in the city.
Each stop is marked with a number on the pavement and an info board with descriptions in multiple languages. It starts and ends at Szczecin Główny train station. You can even use your phone to track your location and find the nearest point.

Final thoughts
Szczecin with kids is a brilliant idea. There are so many attractions, activities, and places to eat that one weekend just isn’t enough. We’ll definitely be back – I still feel like there’s so much more to see and do!
