#floridawithkids #keywest Sail, snorkel & kayak – one magical morning in Key West 🌴💦 We joined the @danger_charters tour and it was one of the best adventures of our trip! From snorkeling with lobsters and colorful fish to sailing with the kindest crew (and delicious snacks!) – every moment was special. But the real highlight? Kayaking through the mangrove forest. 🛶 It was pure magic – we spotted turtles, giant crabs, birds, a shark(!), and even a starfish. I so regret not bringing my camera for that part! The kids had a blast, the stories from the crew were fascinating, and it’s a memory we’ll treasure forever. If you’re in Key West - this tour is an absolute must. 🌞🐠🌊

Established in 1947, it protects over 1.5 million acres of wetlands, swamps, and mangroves, and is home to crocodiles, manatees, panthers, alligators… and even dolphins, which we spotted on our boat tour from Everglades City (highly recommend!). 🐊We explored the park from three different entrances: Everglades City by boat - magical experience with wildlife sightings Shark Valley Visitor Center - take the tram tour! Our guide was a brilliant storyteller, and we learned so much. You ride out to an observation tower and return via a different route, with animal stops along the way. You can also rent bikes here! Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center - great educational exhibit + short walking trails. We loved Anhinga Trail, Gumbo Limbo Trail, and Pinelands Trail. 🐊Your entrance ticket is valid for 7 days, which is amazing. 🐊We stayed overnight in Everglades City, and it was a great base for the boat tour - but you could also visit from Miami, Homestead, or even Naples depending on the area you want to see. 💚 Everglades truly stole our hearts - wild, vast, and unforgettable. Don’t miss it if you’re planning a trip to Florida!

#floridawithkids #myakkastatepark Myakka River State Park was the very first place where we saw alligators in the wild 🐊- and little did we know we’d be seeing them a LOT more often after that 🤣 The entrance fee is just $6 per car, and honestly, it’s one of the best $6 we’ve spent in Florida! Right at the beginning, you cross a bridge over the river - make sure to stop there, because you’ll see lots of alligators. You can spot them so clearly, just chilling in the water. 🐊🌿 Then head up to the canopy walkway and the observation tower - the views are very nice. We also walked a bit along the trails; there’s one right by the river where you can see even more gators. You could easily spend a whole day here and not get bored. And yes - you can even stay overnight! There’s a campground on site. We have such good memories of this place. Definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring Florida’s wild side. 🌴🌞

#floridawithkids #pineisland 🌴We spent such a relaxing time at @tarponlodgerestaurant , located on peaceful Pine Island. 🏝️Our Florida trip was pretty intense, and Tarpon Lodge was exactly what we needed to recharge and slow down. Comfortable rooms, stunning balcony views, breathtaking sunsets, a pool, and a restaurant with delicious food – what more could you ask for? A huge thank you to @tarponlodgerestaurant for the wonderful hospitality! And if you feel like moving a bit, there’s also a lovely short hiking trail through a mangrove forest nearby – the St. Jude Nature Trail. #floridawithkids #caspersenbeach When I was a kid, a friend once brought me shark teeth from her holiday trip. I barely remember the story, but I clearly remember the teeth! So when I found out that you can actually search for fossilized shark teeth on Florida’s west coast beaches – I knew my kids would LOVE it. And honestly, who wouldn’t be excited finding 5–20 million years old fossils? We ended up finding over a dozen shark teeth – and also some stingray teeth! (At first I didn’t know they were fossils too… so I threw them away… then we@found out and kids cried… and started searching all over again. True story.😂) Useful tips if you want to try it too: 1. Beach: Caspersen Beach – THE place for shark tooth hunting. 2. Equipment: Bring basic sifters! Honestly, you don’t need anything fancy. We had a simple toy shovel for $1 from Walmart – it worked perfectly. 3. Best time: They say low tide is best for finding teeth. Maybe! But we went during high tide and still found plenty. 4. Don’t miss: Apart from shark teeth, look for stingray teeth too – they are longer, rougher, and just as exciting to find. 5. Nearby: Caspersen Beach is next to a small park with a pond – it’s worth a visit! Tons of birds, an alligator, and we even spotted a (non-venomous) snake! 6. Most important: Finding your own fossils is pure joy. Good luck and happy hunting!

#manatees #crystalriver #floridawithkids To be honest, the manatees were the real reason behind our Florida trip, and we basically planned our whole route around seeing them! The manatee season runs from November to March, when the ocean gets too cold ❄️ and these gentle giants move into the rivers to stay warm. The best place to see them? Crystal River – also known as the manatee capital of the world. It’s the only place where you’re officially allowed to swim with them. I was honestly scared we wouldn’t see any since we arrived after the season, but luckily there’s a resident manatee population that lives in Crystal River year-round. During the season, you can just walk to Three Sisters Springs National Wildlife Refuge and sometimes see hundreds of manatees at once – I can only imagine how magical that must be ✨. Off-season though, I wouldn’t recommend it – tickets are expensive, we didn’t see any animals there, and it felt a bit underwhelming. Instead, I highly recommend booking a tour with Nature’s Discovery Manatee Tours – ideally the early morning one (we booked the 7:30 AM tour) ☀️ when manatees are most active. The guides were amazing, real professionals who knew exactly where to find them and when to jump into the water. Swimming with the manatees was absolutely magical. I literally had tears in my eyes – it was that moving. The kids loved it too ❤️. Truly an experience I’ll never forget. After snorkeling, we visited Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, where you can see rescued and rehabilitated animals – including a few manatees. And just when we thought the day was over, we stumbled upon a small viewing platform… and there they were: a few beautiful manatees swimming right in front of us 🥹. I honestly felt like my dream came true 100000% ✨
