Szczecin with kids – top attractions

We spent one of the long weekends exploring Szczecin with kids – and let me tell you, this city never stops surprising us! Every single time we visit, we discover something completely new.

This time, we checked out several new spots and I can’t wait to tell you all about them. We were invited by Żegluga Szczecińska, and I want to thank them for organizing everything so wonderfully!

Where to stay in Szczecin with kids

https://all.accor.com/hotel/A0C7/index.de.shtmlWe’ve been to Szczecin with kids quite a few times now, and have tested several places to stay. Our absolute favorite is Ibis Styles Szczecin. Why? Great location, beautiful design, delicious breakfasts and little kids’ corner – all the things that make traveling with children easier.

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, I can also highly recommend the accommodation at Centrum Żeglarskie – they offer both a hostel and small wooden cabins. It’s further from the center but located right by the lake, and we had a great stay there a few years ago.

    Getting to Szczecin

If you’re coming from Berlin, there are a few ways to get to Szczecin:

By bus – the fastest and most comfortable option right now. The journey takes around 2 hours.

By train – it’s possible, but due to ongoing rail works, it currently takes much longer. You’ll need to change to a replacement bus in Angermünde. The whole trip takes around 3.5 hours, but it’s also the cheapest option. If you have the Deutschlandticket, you only need to pay an extra €4.20 on the bus.

By car – always a possibility, but since we don’t currently have a car, we’ve been enjoying exploring alternative options.

Where to eat in Szczecin with kids

Food is always high on our list, and our top spot in Szczecin (which we visit every single time) is Bar Mleczny Turysta – an old-school Polish milk bar. If you want to experience proper Polish home cooking, like the kind grandma used to make on Sundays, go here. Don’t be discouraged by the queue outside – it moves quickly and is proof the food is excellent!

On this trip, we also enjoyed a meal at Browar Pod Zamkiem – highly recommend the cheese platter and Szczecin specialties. They also have a kids’ menu – small, but tasty (confirmed by our kids!).

In the Old Town, you’ll find Bajgle Króla Jana – amazing bagels, great coffee, and yummy cakes. Ideal for breakfast or a takeaway snack.

There’s also Café Niebko located inside the Museum of Technology and Communication – open on weekends with a simple but well-prepared menu.

If you’re a coffee lover like me, ToKawa is a must – their coffee and baked goods are fantastic!

Oh, and don’t miss out on trying a Pasztecik (in Bar Pasztecik) – a true Szczecin legend! It’s a warm, deep-fried pastry filled with meat or cheese. Grab a glass of barszcz (beetroot broth) with it – and don’t forget to admire the retro interior!

Szczecin with kids – top attractions

Now let’s talk about what makes Szczecin with kids such a great idea – the attractions!

Morskie Centrum Nauki (Maritime Science Center)

Wow. This place is HUGE and super modern. We could have easily spent the whole day there. With lots of interactive exhibits focused on science, maritime history, and hands – on experiments, it’s both fun and educational. Great for all ages!

Fabryka Wody – Edukatorium & Aquapark

This place is a total hit! Fabryka Wody is actually two attractions in one:

Edukatorium – a beautiful, interactive science center all about water. You get an audio guide and go through a fascinating journey learning about water in all its forms. You can touch, explore, and engage. If I lived in Szczecin, I’d definitely get a year pass!

Aquapark – absolutely amazing! A giant water park with slides, pools, and a fun zone for all ages. Coming from Berlin, where there’s literally no proper aquapark, this was a total highlight!

See Szczecin with kids from the water!

One of the most special moments of our trip was seeing Szczecin from the water. Did you know that 1/4 of the city is covered by water? I had no idea before!

We went on a private boat tour and saw both the industrial and the natural side of the city – and even spotted a white-tailed eagle 🦅! While our tour was custom-made, there are plenty of great options for everyone – check out Odra Queen cruises

Underground Tourist Routes – Podziemne Trasy Szczecina

This was our first time exploring the Underground Tourist Routes of Szczecin and it was such a cool experience! Walking through tunnels, learning about local history, and meeting the passionate people who run the place made it truly memorable.

Museum of Technology and Communication – Muzeum Techniki i Komunikacji

If your kids love vehicles – or if you do – don’t skip this place! From old trams to retro cars, there’s so much to see.

The museum itself is located in a beautiful historical tram depot from 1912, with a slanted roof and a large glass facade with a clock.
Inside, you’ll find not only trams and buses, but also motorcycles, bicycles, police vehicles, vintage electronics, and a fascinating collection of Polish prototypes – including a rare off-road version of the Fiat 126p and the microcar “Smyk,” which was once planned to be produced in Szczecin.
It’s a nostalgic treasure trove for grown-ups and a paradise of discovery for kids.

    Motoeksperymentarium

An interactive zone inside the museum where kids can learn about traffic safety and car mechanics in a playful way. Simulators, hands-on exhibits, and even a chance to “drive under the influence” (safely simulated, of course) – it’s a great learning experience!

Red tourist trail – The City Tourist Route in Szczecin

If you want to explore Szczecin with kids on foot, follow the Red Tourist Trail! It’s a 7-km walking path marked with red dashed lines on the sidewalks. The trail connects 42 of the most interesting sights and monuments in the city.

Each stop is marked with a number on the pavement and an info board with descriptions in multiple languages. It starts and ends at Szczecin Główny train station. You can even use your phone to track your location and find the nearest point.

Pro tip: save money with the Szczecin Tourist Card

Before you start exploring, make sure to grab the Szczecin Tourist Card – it’s a budget-friendly way to make the most of your stay! Available in 24h (20 PLN) or 72h (30 PLN) options, the card gives you:
    Free access to public transport
    50% discounts in all museums
Discounted tickets for attractions like rope parks, underground shelters, and ferry trips
Deals in cafes, restaurants, and hotels
Discounts for kayak rentals and cultural events

You can buy it online via the GoPay service, in tourist information offices, or through the Mobilna Karta Miejska Szczecin app.

Check the full map of discounts here, and don’t forget to download your free Szczecin Guidebook for even more tips!

    Final thoughts

Szczecin with kids is a brilliant idea. There are so many attractions, activities, and places to eat that one weekend just isn’t enough. We’ll definitely be back – I still feel like there’s so much more to see and do!

We spent 4 days in Karlskrona and it turned out to be a great family trip 💙

⛴️ We took the overnight ferry from Gdynia (21:00–08:30). Kids explored the ship, enjoyed the playroom and even a disco at 10pm. Waves were big but we slept well and breakfast on board made it a real adventure.

🏛️ What to see in Karlskrona with kids:
	•	Naval Museum - much more exciting than I expected, kids get bingo cards and there’s a good buffet.
	•	Blekinge Museum - interesting exhibition, fun playground + bingo with a small prize at the end.
	•	Hoglands Park – central park with playground
	•	A walk around the town – relaxed and pleasant.

🍦 Food we tried: buffet at the Naval Museum, Elsas lilla krog (kids’ menu), and the best ice cream at Café Gelato.

🏝️ Islands:
	•	Aspö - reached by free ferry, we loved the rocks, sea views and wild berries.
	•	Saltö - easy bus ride, beach with jumping board, trails, rocks and trees to climb.

⛺ Stay: we booked a small cabin at First Camp Skönstavik. Very simple, but clean and practical, with a playground, beach and rocks that kids loved.

Karlskrona is a real gem in the Swedish archipelago 🇸🇪✨
Big thanks to @a_polkotapczan for the idea and such a wonderful time together 💛

Tired of boring, ugly travel towels? Me too! 🏖️
When I first saw @buvanha towels, I thought: wow, so it’s actually possible!
Stylish, practical, and functional - all in one 💕

This summer we’ve been testing them on our trips and… we’re in love! 💛 Everywhere we go, people ask where they’re from. They come in different sizes - including a kids’ version - so there’s something for everyone. With so many beautiful designs to choose from, you’ll definitely find your favourite 🫶

Gdynia will always have a special place in my heart - it’s where my mum was born, and where I spent every summer as a child visiting my grandparents. For years, my mum dreamed of moving back to the seaside, but life had other plans.

Now, I come back to visit my grandparents - both already in their late eighties, yet still as active as they can be. My girls adore their great-grandparents, and I feel it’s such a blessing that they get to know them.

Whenever we’re here, I try to soak in as much as possible - a walk by the sea, a good meal, and a little cultural stop. This time it was the exhibition about designer Alicja Wyszogrodzka at the Gdynia City Museum, a crazy afternoon at the play centre, and of course, plenty of family time.

We ended our trip by making one of my childhood dreams come true - taking the ferry from Gdynia to Karlskrona. 🌊✨

Stage one of our summer adventure: completed! ✅
We spent the past week together as a family in Zakopane - and it was absolutely fantastic! 🌞 Despite gloomy forecasts promising rain, the weather turned out to be beautiful most of the time - sunshine, blue skies, and perfect hiking vibes.

We walked in the mountains, met up with friends, enjoyed delicious food, and just soaked in the joy of being together. Today, part of the family went their own way - and tomorrow I’m heading to Gdynia with the girls, and then… Sweden! 🇸🇪 Our summer journey continues for a few more weeks and I plan to make the most of it!

A few practical tips if you’re planning to visit Zakopane with kids:

🏡 We stayed at Tatra Green House and I can highly recommend it - super friendly and helpful host, very comfy cabin, peaceful location yet close to everything.

🚉 We came by train and had no car during our stay, but that wasn’t a problem - local buses run often and take you straight to most trails.

🍽 Favorite food spot? 100% Bubuja @bubujabistro - absolutely amazing food. Also, don’t skip the mountain huts - they have the coziest vibe and usually serve great regional dishes.

🎁 For souvenirs, head to Baza Tatry @bazatatry - beautiful and original pieces made by local artists.

👧👦 Our kids joined a day camp run by Tatra National Park (8:00-15:30), which gave us time to explore the trails - and they were happy and well taken care of!

🥾 Hikes we did (only Nosal with kids, but with good shoes and depending on fitness, the others are doable too):
	1.	Kuźnice – Kalatówki – Dolina Białego
	2.	Bystre Dolne – Nosal – Nosalowa Przełęcz – Dolina Olczyska – Bystre Dolne
	3.	Wierch Poroniec – Rusinowa Polana – Gęsia Szyja – Rówień Waksmundzka – Roztoka Hut – Palenica Białczańska (~16 km, long but stunning — at least do Rusinowa Polana with kids!)
	4.	Cyhrla – Dolina Kopieniec – Kopieniec Wielki – Dolina Białego – Jaszczurówka

We truly loved it. There’s something magical about the mountains - peaceful, grounding, and those views at the top… always worth the climb.
And there’s still so much left to discover… 💚⛰

July flew by so fast I honestly don’t know where it went - and I can’t believe it’s already August!! 😱
Summer in Berlin wasn’t exactly spoiling us weather-wise, but honestly, I rarely let that bother me 😂

So what happened?
I kicked off the month with a little getaway to France with my husband - it was amazing. We explored the stunning Gorges du Verdon and wandered through lavender fields (all thanks to my father-in-law who bravely stayed with the kids and totally nailed it 🙌).
Back in Berlin, I continued going to Lifted and absolutely loved it - kinda sad I have a summer break now 😂
Then I headed to Łódź to visit my sister and finally meet her adorable baby boy - totally smitten from the first moment 💛
We also went on a trip to Chemnitz and had such a good time there.
And then - summer break! We kicked it off with a beautiful wedding of my husband’s friend, where we sang a traditional song we’d been preparing for months (who knew I’d be that nervous?!). I think it went okay 😅
After the wedding, we jumped on a train to Zakopane - the forecast promised non-stop rain but somehow we’ve had sunshine and it’s been gorgeous. The kids are doing a day camp and we get to hike in the mountains - I fall asleep every night from pure physical tiredness, and it feels soooo good.

And now… it’s August already!?
Tomorrow we’re off again and this month will be packed with travels – can’t wait for what’s ahead! ✨

🌞 I saw in one of my polls that many of you are spending the summer in Berlin - so here’s a tip you shouldn’t miss: the Super-Ferien-Pass! 🎫✨

👉What is it?
It’s a holiday pass for all Berlin school holidays - valid from this summer until the end of next year’s Easter break. It’s only €9 and gives Berlin kids and teens (up to 18 y.o.) access to over 500 offers - either for free or at reduced prices!

Some of the best deals:
💦 Free daily entry to all pools of Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (outdoor in summer, indoor in other breaks)
🦁 Zoo & Tierpark - free for kids up to 15 y.o.
🦖 Museum für Naturkunde - free
🎮 Computerspielemuseum - €5 instead of €7
🎬 Cinema tickets (e.g. Hackesche Höfe Kino) - €5
🪐 Zeiss Großplanetarium - free

💥 Plus: raffles for day trips, workshops, holiday camps, show tickets & more

📍You can buy the Super-Ferien-Pass in many shops across the city or online via @jugendkulturservice

Such a great way to explore the city, save money, and keep kids happy all summer (and beyond)!

✨ Chemnitz – European Capital of Culture 2025 ✨
Just 2.5 hours by train from Berlin, and what a great weekend trip it turned out to be! We loved the creative vibe, post-industrial charm, and all the cultural events happening right now.

🏡 Where we stayed?
At Jugendherberge Chemnitz @jugendherberge – and it was such a good choice for families!
✔ Centrally located – perfect for exploring on foot
✔ Housed in an old Umformwerk building (industrial history turned into a hostel – love it!)
✔ Simple, comfortable rooms and a fresh breakfast to start the day
✔ Nice terrace for parents, a playroom for kids, and even a TV-free policy in the rooms – more time to actually betogether. (There’s a common TV room if you want 😉) //Werbung

🎨 What we did?
– Visited the @begehungen.festival – an international art festival held in unusual locations. This year it takes place at the former HKW Chemnitz-Nord (until 17.08).
– Explored the @industriemuseum_chemnitz , with fantastic exhibitions about the city’s industrial history and fun little booklets for kids.
– Relaxed at Pelzmühle park with its playground, stream (kids loved splashing!), and met Alvin, the world’s largest Räuchermann.
– Played at another lovely playground in Schlossteichpark.
– Strolled around the city, enjoying its mix of old architecture, new creative spots, and laid-back atmosphere.

@chemnitz2025 surprised us – a city transforming its industrial past into creative spaces that really serve people. If you’re looking for a weekend full of art, culture, and family-friendly fun – this is it! 💛

⛰️We spent a few unforgettable days in Seefeld and loved every minute of it! Surrounded by mountains and nature, it’s the perfect escape for families who love hiking, good food, and fun activities @visitseefeld

✅ Family-friendly hikes:
– Rundwanderung zur Triendlsäge - easy and scenic, with a must-stop at Triendlsäge Gasthof (amazing food!).
– Rundwanderung Wildsee - fun Kneipp water basins and info boards about local nature.
– Geisterklamm - thrilling gorge walk with bridges, a roaring river, and riddles for kids.
– Bergbahnen Rosshütte - cable cars, playground, and stunning views. You can hike further to Seefelder Spitze if you feel adventurous.

✅ Activities kids loved:
– Fishing at Leutascher Fischerei - rent everything on-site and even have your catch cooked for you.
– Sigi’s Sauhaufen - cuddly bunnies and pigs, perfect for animal lovers.

✅ Where to eat:
Triendlsäge Gasthof (our favorite), L5 Restaurant, Südtiroler Stuben, Seefelder Stube, Gasthaus Klammgeist, and Hochegg Alm for the best views.

✅ Good to know:
If you stay in official accommodation, you get the Seefeld Guest Card 'PlateauCard' - free buses and train rides in the region plus discounts on attractions.

We came back relaxed, happy, and already planning to return - Seefeld is truly perfect for families!

On my blog there is detailed post so make sure you don’t miss it!💛

🛝 What I really love about Berlin’s playgrounds is how diverse they are! Some are simple, others truly outstanding – but I always feel like there’s a lot of thought behind their design. They’re usually so well planned and creative.

Even though my kids are slowly growing out of being super excited about playgrounds, I personally still enjoy exploring them – and Berlin has so many! I always try to stay up to date and check if a new one pops up somewhere.

Recently, we visited five new-to-us playgrounds, and here are the details in case you want to check them out too:

🔹 Heißluftballon-Spielplatz – Gellertstraße 10, 12489 Berlin
Inside the hot-air balloon there’s a climbing net! Perfect to combine with a walk around Adlershof – so many interesting buildings to spot there.

🔹 Spielplatz mit Kletterfelsen – Kaiserin-Augusta-Allee 101, 10553 Berlin
Great for older kids who love a challenge – climbing those rocks wasn’t easy! But don’t worry, there’s also a more “normal” playground area.

🔹 Bergbau-Spielplatz Goslarer Platz
Another beautiful creation by @zimmer.obst_spielraum – always such unique designs!

🔹 Spielplatz im Fennpfuhlpark “Hamsterkäfig”
I really love the shape and form of this one – looks amazing, right?

🔹 Spielplatz – Zingster Str. 23, 13051 Berlin
A small playground, but with an interesting shape and some cool activity elements. And there is a very nice playground nearby that I will show you soon :).

Do you have any favorite playgrounds in Berlin?

But don’t worry, there’s also a more “normal” playground area. 🔹 Bergbau-Spielplatz Goslarer Platz Another beautiful creation by @zimmer.obst_spielraum – always such unique designs! 🔹 Spielplatz im Fennpfuhlpark “Hamsterkäfig” I really love the shape and form of this one – looks amazing, right? 🔹 Spielplatz – Zingster Str. 23, 13051 Berlin A small playground, but with an interesting shape and some cool activity elements. And there is a very nice playground nearby that I will show you soon :).
