💛Today’s post is a little recap of my June.

I somehow have this habit of constantly visiting new places... and then running out of energy to actually post about them. 😅 I always know I’ve been busy, but I never realize *how* busy until I make a list... and then I’m like: 😂

The funny thing is, at the beginning of June I told my friend this month would be much calmer because May had completely exhausted me.

Well... what can I do? Years ago I came across a quote by Diane Arbus:
”My favorite thing is to go where I’ve never been.”
And I remember thinking: yep... that’s 100% me.

So I keep wandering around Berlin, always curious, always amazed by how many unexpected places this city has to offer.

Sometimes I literally go: “Wait... what?! A housing estate built over a motorway?!” I’ve lived here for so many years and had never even heard of it... so of course I had to go and see it. 😂

Anyway... I hope this wasn’t too many places in one post. 😅 Did you know all of them?

Would you prefer me to keep sharing monthly roundups like that, or would you rather see more detailed posts (or blog articles) about individual places?

I’d really love to hear what you think. 💛

☀️We spent the hottest weekend of the year exploring Geo-Naturpark Frau Holle Land in Hesse @geonaturpark_frauholleland - a beautiful region of rolling hills, forests, half-timbered towns and, of course, the home of the famous fairy tale Frau Holle. 💛

The reason we came was simple: last year I saw photos of the famous poppy fields somewhere online and immediately knew I wanted to see them myself. Unfortunately, we were just a little too late and most of the poppies were already gone… but honestly, it was still so beautiful. Just look at these views!

Because of the extreme heat we didn’t manage to see everything we had planned, but here’s what we did:

🌺 Poppy fields in Germerode & Grandenborn - both have lovely walking trails through the fields. Grandenborn still had more blooming poppies, while Germerode surprised us with beautiful wildflower meadows and countless cherry trees. The cherries were incredibly delicious! 🍒🍒🍒

👣 Barfußpfad Hoher Meißner - what a fantastic attraction! The entire barefoot trail is in the forest, so it was the perfect escape from the heat. There are more than 30 different stations to try and the entrance fee is only €2.

🏖️ Werratalsee - a lovely lake with a sandy beach, toilets and plenty of space to relax.

🏡 Eschwege @eschwege.de - a charming little town with beautifully preserved half-timbered houses, perfect for a leisurely stroll.

[Anzeige] We were invited to stay at Jugendherberge Eschwege @djhhessen @jugendherberge , and it was the perfect base for exploring the region. Spacious family rooms, tasty homemade food, a playground, lots of greenery, friendly staff and so many board games for cosy family evenings. We had such a lovely stay - thank you so much for having us! 💛

The best part? You can easily visit all three in one trip and walk between them through beautiful green spaces. It makes for a perfect half-day adventure with kids!

I’ve seen @mountmitte so many times from the tram window and always thought it looked really, really cool. A high ropes course in the middle of the city? Wow!
We finally tried it and it was just as good as expected. 😍

🌳 Different courses and difficulty levels
🌳 Really nice, relaxed vibe
🌳 Right next to Nordbahnhof, super easy to reach by public transport

Definitely a place worth adding to your Berlin bucket list!

Futurium Kids is a special programme created for children and families, making a visit even more interactive and engaging.

Our highlight was definitely the Kids’ Guide. Together with Nubi, the digital ghost, children move independently through the exhibition, look for marked stations, listen to stories and answer quiz questions along the way. My daughter loved sharing everything she had learned after each stop - which probably says a lot about how engaging it is. Kids who complete the quiz even receive a small surprise.
